Application Update
March 3, 2008There were a few application news bites from the last couple of days that are worth mentioning:
NewsFire: Over the weekend, NewsFire announced a price reduction. Following in the footsteps of NetNewsWire, NewsFire is now free. I wonder how long NewsLife will continue as a paid product in the face of this shift in the market.
Leap: I have written about Leap – a Finder replacement from the makers of Yep – before. At the time, Leap was in a public beta release. Leap looks useful, but I will have to spend more time with it to see if the cost is justified. If you’re looking for a free alternative, check out punakea.
TimeLog 4: TimeLog 4.3 was released today. TimeLog 4 is a Leopard-only time tracking application. Last summer I investigated billing and invoicing software for my wife’s law practice. At the time, TimeLog 3 was available, but it wasn’t that compelling of a solution. The screencasts of TimeLog 4 are intriguing, though, and warrant TimeLog another look (you should all know by now how much I love screencasts when making a buying decision). Don’t be surprised if you see a follow-up article here giving more detail on TimeLog 4.
